Santa Cruz Beach House

This 1930’s beach house in Santa Cruz, CA had a great location, just a block away fom the beach, but was outdated, dark, and too small for a very social family of five. To solve these issues, the floor plan was reorganized to create larger living space, clever storage, and the ceiling height raised to 10′. New window and door openings provide natural light and ventilation throughout the day and double the size of the kitchen and dining areas. Finishes and fixtures were chosen to establish a calm yet playful feeling, while being  durable enough for small children running inside from the shore.
