“Christie is amazing. In every aspect. All the time. After we lost our Napa house in the 2017 fires we spoke with 1/2 dozen architects. Christie was the only one who asked for our first meet to be on site. At that first meeting she thoughtfully asked about how a day progresses for us in the house. Who gets up first? Where would we drink coffee? She looked at the pattern of the sun. Then we started talking about the house design.
Nothing about our build was simple: the site is remote, woodsy and the house is against a hill. Christie rose to every challenge, presented us with options, was sensitive to costs and always, always kept a focus on how we would live in the house. Today we have an extraordinarily beautiful, light-filled home that embraces indoor/outdoor living and from each window the outlook is like a painting.

“Christie is phenomenal. I interviewed 7 architects to renovate our SF condo back in late 2019 and she was the best and most likable of all 7. Likability is important b/c I knew we had to have constant conversations and debates about design ideas and decisions for months to come. Christie was one of the few who didn’t walk in, throw some awards in my face, brag about how cozy they are with the permit office, and talk my ear off about the different things they’ve done. Instead, she listened and we dialogued, like two normal people. She’s the only one who’s references held true and promised she was as detailed and as competent as she seemed. I’ve found working with Christie an absolute dream. She’s not only extremely good at design and execution, she is great about follow-through, working with general contractors, and getting through new challenges that come up. She keeps a level head in all situations, she’s empathetic, adaptable to new ideas, and just really smart about how she utilizes her time (which translates to costs). A great example is when I compared quotes, one architect listed $8k for the hours he would spend to take precise measurements of our property.”

“In addition to skilled architecture and design in a very limited space, Tyreus Design brought a calm and reasonable tempo to a process that I, for one, find daunting and stressful. Christie and her associates were able to fill in our considerable gaps in knowledge and understanding, but also work with the really specific things we cared about. Our remodel was complicated – some unpleasant foundational surprises and permit backups- and Tyreus Design never abandoned enthusiasm and ownership of the project. They were good at what we hoped they would do, and great at things we did not even understand at the beginning of the process. We recommend them highly, and are so pleased with our new home.”

“We hired Christie and Tyreus Design for some extensive remodeling of our house in Tiburon – new/expanded deck, full kitchen remodel, master bedroom/bath remodel and reconfiguration. Christie and her team were creative, responsive, and a pleasure to work with. The new deck configuration really provides for an improved access and utilization, and was something we never thought of on our own – great solution. The project is in planning stage and we just received the permits from the town, which is a difficult process in Tiburon, but much advantaged by Christie’s quick responses and collaborative attitude. “We hired Christie in 2012 for a remodel of our dark, dated 1970’s California ranch. When we began the project, the scope was limited to the public areas (kitchen, family, living, dining) of the house, but it quickly grew to include a new bathroom addition and remodel of our 4 bedrooms as well. My biggest fear going into the project was that any changes we made would look like just that – changes – as opposed to a seamless update where the lines between old and new would be undetectable. Christie put those fears to rest with her first drawings, which cleverly added a new bathroom where an expansive and unused front porch had once been. Genius! She also gave us a slightly larger kitchen footprint by bumping out the wall between the bedrooms and the kitchen. Her fee was very reasonable for the services she provided. While Christie leans toward a very modern, clean, aesthetic, she is flexible and very good about letting the client’s design preferences take the lead. Our house is now a gorgeous, rustic modern, light, and airy ranch house with an efficient layout and quality workmanship (Christie recommended our contractor). Besides being a gifted architect, Christie skillfully shepherded our project through the Larkspur planning department, keeping us on the desired timeline. We are one of the few homeowners out there who can say we were 100% satisfied with the process and the results. Thank you, Christie.”
